Our guided walk will take you through the historic Akaroa township.

Service Description

So much history, so much significance, such a walkable area with many early cottages and buildings still on display. Akaroa is variously described as “French Akaroa”, “the Waitangi of the South” and “A Small Town with a Big History”. Join one of our local knowledgeable guides to hear these enticing and interesting stories. Take part in a discussion and see places where history occurred. Walk in the footsteps of early settlers and envisage the 1840’s, the whalers, the tangata whenua, the French and German settlers. Learn where you can explore further to complement your sojourn in Akaroa. Come with us – let us introduce you to ‘Historic Akaroa’. Meeting point for this Walk is at the end of the main wharf, Beach Rd, Akaroa at 10am.
